Gold Fontenay Necklace

Rare and important archaeological revival Gold French Fontenay Necklace and Earring parure. The fringes of the necklace is ornamented with beads. Around the collar of the necklace is intricate wire work.  The earrings suspend three fringes from an open triangle. The necklace measures 15.5 inches and have Fontenay maker marks and French hallmarks. Circa 1860. Born in the early 1820's, Eugene Fontenay worked with his father who was a goldsmith in Paris. In the 1860's Fontenay's best work was done, focusing on Archaeological revival jewelry. A fine example would be this set from our collection.
